Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Her appearances include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami & Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also the mother of her children. Delaney has four older brothers. As a young girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. However, in high school the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. When she was a teenager, her first role as an actor was on the soap opera All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with a variety of television shows and dramas. In contrast to her successful professional life, Delaney's personal one is not as happy and prosperous. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism and she has experienced two divorces. In 2005 she lost the custody of her only son.
